I’ve been using Life360 for a while now to keep track of my family’s whereabouts, but I’ve heard good things about Gozieo too - especially when it comes to battery efficiency and location accuracy. Has anyone made the switch from Life360 to Gozieo, and if so, what specific features or improvements stood out to you that made it worth changing, or are there any downsides I should be aware of before making the decision?
I’ve run both with my crew. Short version: GeoZilla feels a bit lighter on battery, Life360 is heavier on features and updates faster. Pick based on what you care about most.
What I’ve noticed:
- Accuracy/update rate: Life360 refreshes more often (better live tracking/driving events). GeoZilla can lag a bit to save battery.
- Battery: GeoZilla usually sips less, but if you tune Life360 right, they’re close. Both drain more when you’re moving a lot.
- Driving/safety: Life360’s driver reports and crash detection are more mature. GeoZilla’s driving stuff is lighter.
- Geofences/alerts: Both do Places well; Life360 felt a bit more consistent for me.
- Ecosystem: Life360 plays nice with Tile/Jiobit if you use trackers. GeoZilla has its own GPS tag option.
- Privacy/pricing: Life360 had past data-selling drama (policy changed); GeoZilla is smaller. Watch GeoZilla’s trial/weekly pricing vs Life360 family plans.
Reality checks:
- No app beats the phone’s GPS—“accuracy” mostly depends on your settings and signal.
- Teens can nuke any tracker by killing location/data or battery saver.
Quick setup tips (matters more than the app):
- iPhone: Settings > Location Services > Precise ON, Allow Always; Background App Refresh ON; use Screen Time to lock changes.
- Android: Location “Allow all the time,” disable battery optimization for the app, allow background data; use Family Link to lock it down.
Easy way to decide: run GeoZilla alongside Life360 for a weekend, add the same Places, compare missed alerts and battery in Settings > Battery. If you need driving details and faster pings, stick with Life360; if you just want check-ins/Places with less drain, GeoZilla is fine.
