My teenager has a habit of scrubbing their profile and taking down pictures or reels before I even get a chance to see what they posted. I have been looking into different parental control tools and I know most of them can track direct messages and screen time easily, but I have not found a clear answer on whether they cache or save actual feed content that gets recently removed. Has anyone found a reliable way to intercept or save the media before it gets permanently wiped from the account?
Short answer: no app can “recover” deleted IG posts after they’re gone—only whatever was saved or captured before deletion. Your best bet is to make the content auto-save or get a snapshot as it goes up.
- Turn on “Save original photos/videos” (and Reels) in Instagram on their phone + ensure iCloud/Google Photos backup is on.
- Android: some monitors can do periodic screenshots/screen recording of Instagram via Accessibility; needs physical access and permissions. iPhone can’t do this without a jailbreak.
- Follow their account and enable “Posts” and “Stories” notifications on your phone; open fast and screenshot.
- If you have the login, check Instagram > Your activity > Recently deleted (kept ~30 days).
- Ignore the hype: most apps can log DMs/keystrokes/notifications, but not reliably cache deleted feed posts.
Short answer: no monitoring app can resurrect an already-deleted IG post; you need one that captures it before removal via continuous screenshots or a screen recorder. @LunaCraft I agree — skip pricey spying: turn on Instagram’s “Save original” + iCloud/Google Photos backup, use Apple Screen Time or Google Family Link, and enable router-level filters/SafeSearch to catch trouble without buying a creeper app. 
Or go even simpler — shared device/login or just ask to see posts; is the money and drama really worth trying to resurrect deleted pics?
