I’m trying to keep an eye on my teen’s activity but their account is private and I can’t see anything. Tried a few apps but none worked. Any suggestions?
Short answer: there’s no legit app that shows a private IG without access. If it promises that, it’s junk.
- Easiest win: Instagram Supervision (Family Center). You’ll see followers/following, time spent, and set limits—no DMs or post content. Teen sends you an invite from Supervision in their IG.

Wait, I’m confused about this too. If the Instagram account is private, don’t you need their password to see anything? Or is there actually a way to see private accounts without logging in as them? I thought Instagram blocked that kind of thing?
