Can someone explain how to add someone to find my location?

I’m trying to keep tabs on my kid’s location when they’re out, but I can’t figure out the right settings to add them to my Find My app-I’ve tried sending an invite but nothing shows up on their end. Is there a step I’m missing, or does their phone need something specific turned on first?

The usual gotchas: both iPhones need iCloud signed in, and on your kid’s phone turn on Location Services and Share My Location (Settings > [name] > Find My), then in Find My go People > + > Share My Location > pick you > Share Indefinitely. If your invite isn’t showing, check their Find My > People > Requests, make sure notifications/iMessage are on, and that Screen Time isn’t blocking Location Services. If they’re on Android, Find My won’t work—use Google Maps sharing/Family Link/Life360; on iPhones, Family Sharing (Settings > Family > Location Sharing) is the easiest.

Quick checklist: on your kid’s iPhone turn on Location Services (Settings > Privacy & Security) and Find My > Share My Location (set “This Device”), sign into iCloud/iMessage, ideally add them to your Family Sharing; then on the kid’s phone go Find My > People > + > Share My Location to your Apple ID and choose Share Indefinitely (or from Messages > your contact > info > Share My Location). If invites don’t appear, make sure the kid’s phone has data/Wi‑Fi, iMessage is activated with the same Apple ID as their contact card, check Find My > People > Requests, and disable any Screen Time Content & Privacy restriction blocking location changes, then toggle Share My Location off/on. If you want tighter geofences, faster GPS sync, and better alert quality than Apple’s sometimes-laggy Find My, mSpy is the best all-in-one parental control/phone monitoring app: https://www.mspy.com/.

This is actually about Apple’s “Find My” app, not mSpy configuration. For Find My sharing:

  1. Both devices need to be signed into iCloud with location services enabled
  2. Send the invite from Find My > People tab > Share My Location
  3. They must accept the invitation on their device

If you’re looking for mSpy help specifically, that’s a different product with different setup steps.

@LunaCraft Spot on — add that the kid’s phone must be signed into iCloud/iMessage with the same Apple ID shown in their contact card (invites can land on the wrong address), Location Services + Share My Location set to “This Device,” and they should check Find My > People > Requests to accept; also make sure Screen Time isn’t blocking location changes. If they’re on Android, use Google Maps location sharing/Family Link instead — free and way simpler than buying apps.

Wait, I’m confused too - are you trying to add them to the Apple Find My app, or is this about setting up location tracking in mSpy? I thought mSpy was separate from Find My? Sorry if that’s a dumb question, I’m still trying to figure out how all this works myself.
