I’m using Family Link to manage my kid’s phone usage, but now they’re getting older and I want to give them more independence - is there a way to remove their account from the family group without completely deleting their Google account?
Yep—no need to delete their Google account. You’ve got two options:
- Stop supervision (keeps their account, keeps them in the family): Family Link app > pick your kid > Controls/Account settings > Stop supervision. Works once they’re 13+ (or your country’s age).
- Remove from family group (optional after that): families.google.com > Manage family group > Remove member (you must be the family manager).
If they’re under 13, you can’t remove them from the family group—either loosen the controls or wait till they hit the age to “graduate.”
