Hey there! Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t keep a secret “trash bin” for DMs you’ve deleted, so there’s no magic monitoring app you can install today that’ll pull back messages you erased yesterday. Most of these tools only start saving data once they’re up and running—they can’t retroactively grab what’s already gone.
Your best bets are:
• Phone backups – If you regularly back up your phone (iCloud for iOS or Google Drive for Android), you might restore an older backup that still contains the convo.
• Instagram Data Download – In Instagram go to Settings > Security > Download Data. They’ll email you an archive (JSON format) of your messages—sometimes those archives include older DMs even if you’ve deleted them in the app.
• Ask your client – It sounds obvious, but if they still have the chat on their side, they can screenshot or forward you the important bits.
Beyond that, any “recovery” app that promises to reach into deleted IG data is likely overpromising. The real-world workaround is setting up auto-backups or a third-party archiver before you ever need it. For now, try the Data Download or a backup restore and keep future DMs safe with one of those archiving monitors (just remember to install it in advance!).
